John Barousse: Very Business-Like Bio

John Barousse has been a creative director and designer for print and interactive media since 1990. On his very first interactive project, “Discover Tulane,” a floppy disk-based direct mail brochure for Tulane University, he won Publish! magazine’s “Best Interactive Publication” award as well as a feature story on the “Today” show. From that point forward, he was hooked on the power of the multimedia experience.

John has worked for Tulane University, Louisiana State University, The Graham Group, Zehno, The Olson Group and GCR & Associates.

In 1995 John opened his own design, branding and multimedia agency, John Barousse Design Inc., specializing in Branding, print and web design. Barousse Design has provided creative direction and design on award-winning web sites for Tulane University, Barnett Bank, Lifetouch Publishing, the Baptist Crossroads Project, Aspyr Games, and many other local and national accounts.

In 2002, John joined technology consultancy, GCR & Associates, Inc. (GCR), as their in-house marketing and design director. John directed all of GCR’s marketing efforts, including branding, print and websites. John also planned and designed the user interfaces for many of GCR’s enterprise-level, web-based applications, including work for: the Louisiana Secretary of State, the FAA, Tucson Airport Authority, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Bermuda Dept. of Civil Aviation.

In 2007, John left GCR to re-open Barousse Design. He resumed his lifelong passion of creative direction and interface design for several prominent clients throughout south Louisiana.

John’s cutting-edge approach to technology is an obsession, which has served his clients well. As multimedia applications have progressed from disk-based media to the internet, with web, email and mobile devices, John has not only kept up, but pushed the media forward.

John Barousse graduated Cum Laude as a Dean’s Medalist from Louisiana State University in 1990 with a BFA degree in graphic design/fine arts.
